1923
・Our business was founded by Chotaro Misawa in Katsunuma-town.
・"Chotaro Stamp Wine" was released for sale.
1959
・The third-generation, Kazuo Misawa established “Chuo Budoshu Co., Ltd.” and laid the foundation of our current business.
・"The wine brand “GRACE” was established.
1961
・One of our products was introduced as a superb article in “Bento in the dark”, which is a collection of essays written by Shugoro Yamamoto. (It is our fortified wine currently called “Shugoro-no Vin”)
1962
・We started supplying to French Navy.
1980
・An authentic aging cellar (Approximately 660 square meters) was constructed.
1983
・We made the first wine which was certified under the geographical certification system in Japan (Certified that it was made in Katsunuma-town).
1987
・We formed Katsunuma Wineries Club which consisted of 12 companies of young winemakers from Katsunuma-town.
1989
・The fourth-generation, Shigekazu Misawa became the president of the company.
1990
・We began making Sur lie wine with Koshu grapes.
1992
・Trial of the cultivation of Koshu with Vertical Shoot Positioning began.
1998
・The first wine competition in Japan “Japan International Wine Challenge” was held.
・”Koshu Taru Chozou 1997” won the trophy for best Japanese white wine.
2000
・”Grace Koshu” was introduced as wine that has Japanese originality in UK’s “Financial Times”.
・”Grace Koshu” was introduced as a representative of Japanese wine in “World Atlas Of Wine” which is called the wine bible.
・”Cuvée Misawa (Rouge) 1999” won the gold prize at the 3rd Japan Wine Challenge and it was the first time that a Japanese wine won the award.
2001
・”Cuvée Misawa (Blanc) Private Reserve 1997” won the silver prize and the best international wine award at the 4th Japan Wine Challenge.
2002
・We opened Misawa Vineyard (formerly known as Grace Akeno Vineyard) which we manage on our own in Akeno, Yamanashi-prefecture (8.6 hectares).
・”Grace Koshu 2001” won the silver prize and the best international wine award at the 5th Japan Wine Challenge.
2004
・Mr. Robert Parker Jr. paid a visit and tasted Koshu wine.
・We made Koshu wine under the guidance of Professor Dubourdieu from Bordeaux University.
・”Cuvée Misawa Koshu Private Reserve” won the first place in the wine ranking in Nikkei Newspaper.
2005
・We tried the cultivation of Koshu with Vertical Shoot Positioning at Misawa Vineyard in Akeno again.
2006
・ANA adopted ”Grace Koshu Toriibira Vineyard” and “Grace Kai Noir” to serve in their first class lounge, “Grace Koshu” and “Grace Rouge Kayagatake” to serve in their business lounge at Narita Airport.
・Mr. Schonleber, a winemaker from Rheingau visited Misawa Vineyard in Akeno, Yamanashi. In 2007, we visited Mr. Schonleber in Rheingau, where he was growing Koshu with the hedging system.
2007
・”Grace Koshu 2006” won the silver prize, the trophy for best Koshu and the best Japanese wine award at the 10th Japan Wine Challenge.
2008
・”Grace Chardonnay 2007” and “Grace Chardonnay 2008” were introduced in the comic series “Drops of God” (published by Kodansha).
・”Grace Merlot 2006” won the silver prize and the best Japanese wine award at the 11th Japan Wine Challenge.
・”Grace Koshu 2007” won the gold prize and the best category award at the 6th Japan Wine Competition.
2009
・JAL adopted “Cuvée Misawa Koshu Private Reserve” and “Grace Koshu Barrel” to serve in first class on their international flights.
・”Grace Koshu 2008” won the gold prize at the 12th Japan Wine Challenge and it was the first time that a Koshu wine won this award.
・”Gris de Koshu 2008” won the gold prize and the best category award, and “Grace Koshu Hishiyama Vineyard 2008” won the gold prize at the 7th Japan Wine Competition.
・”Cuvée Misawa Koshu Private Reserve 2007” won the bronze prize at the International Wine Challenge in London.
・”Grace Chardonnay 2008” won the best Japanese award at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in Hong Kong.
2010
・A wine tasting event “Koshu Of Japan (KOJ)” was held by Koshu wine EU export project for the first time in London.
・The vine variety “Koshu” was registered by International Organisation of Vine and Wine (O.I.V).
・Export of our wine to UK began.
・”Grace Chardonnay 2008” was chosen as “Best Buy Wines” by “Australian Gourmet Traveller” magazine.
・JAL adopted “Grace Koshu” to serve in business class on their international flights.
・・ANA adopted “Grace Kayagatake Rouge” to serve in their business lounge on the Haneda Airport International Terminal.
・”Grace Koshu 2009” won the gold prize in food awards at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in Hong Kong.
2011
・The 2nd Koshu wine EU export project “KOJ” was held in London..
・”Gris de Koshu 2010” won the trophy for best Koshu award at the 14th Japan Wine Challenge.
・”Grace Kayagatake Blanc 2010”, which is exported to EU, won the silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards and it was the first time that a Koshu wine won this award.
2012
・The 3rd Koshu wine EU export project “KOJ” was held in London.
・”Cuvée Misawa Koshu Toriibira Vineyard Private Reserve 2011” won the gold prize and the trophy for best Japanese wine at the 15th Japan Wine Challenge.
・”Grace Kayagatake White 2011” won the silver medal 2 years in a row at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
The 10th anniversary of opening of “Misawa Vineyard”.
2013
・A wine tasting e was held time in London.
・The 4th Koshu wine EU export project “KOJ” was held in London.
・The company’s 90th anniversary.
・”Grace Gris De Koshu 2012” won the gold medal and the regional trophy at the Decenter Asia Wine Awards and it was the first time that an Asian wine won these awards.
・Garuda Indonesia adopted “Grace Koshu” to serve in their first class.
2014

・”Cuvée Misawa Akeno Koshu 2013” won the gold medal and the regional trophy at the world’s biggest wine competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards and it was the first time that a Japanese wine won these awards.
2015
・The 6th Koshu wine EU export project “KOJ” was held in London.
・The collaboration wine with Mr. Thibault Despagne ”La Rencontre 2012” was made.
・We constructed a wine cave which can mature up to 95 barrels and 60,000 wine bottles at Misawa Winery.
2016
・The 7th Koshu wine EU export project “KOJ” was held in London.
・”Grace Extra Brut” won the platinum prize and the best Asian award at the world’s biggest wine competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards and it was the first time that an Asian sparkling wine won these awards.
